Speed of Dances
Bruzo (author of the BRuTe midi->ABC transcriber) recently spent a bit of time and figured out what the speed of the various LOTRO dances are. I'm reposting his results here from the LOTRO music forum just so I don't lose track of it. This information is useful if you would like to tweak the speed of a song so that it synchronizes with a particular dance:
dance_jig : 140 BPM
dance_hobbit : 136 BPM
dance_elf : 113 BPM
dance_hobbit2 : 90 BPM
dance_dwarf : 83 BPM
dance_dwarf2 : 70 BPM
dance_elf2 : 70 BPM
dance_man3 : 69 BPM
dance_man : 66 BPM
dance_man2 : 64 BPM
That is actually pretty neat. I suppose this means we can also find out which dance fits best a song's rhythm when trying to decide which dances to use during performances and a lot more. Still, there's no excuse why these Men can't drag their feet

Dance_jig is afaik a bit different between the races. As this figures come from Bruzo you said, I guess that is the hobbit number.
I actually tested man_dance3 for my elf, and I found that it clocks in at 66 BPM (which is a little slower than the figure of 69 BPM that Bruzo gives)... so now I wonder whether all or most dances vary according to the size of the dancer. Well, anyway, it still gives us a rough idea of what tempos work for what songs, even if we can't expect to synchronize them exactly since the audiences will include most races at most events.
